For over 15 years, Rogue Ales & Spirits has engaged in collaborations with renowned "Iron Chef" Masaharu Morimoto, primarily focusing on beer endeavors. However, they have now ventured into the realm of whiskey for the first time. Rogue embarked on a distillation process utilizing their Morimoto Imperial Pilsner and Morimoto Black Obi Ale, allowing them to mature for over two years. Subsequently, the spirits were transferred to Oregon Oak casks previously employed for aging Rogue's Rolling Thunder Imperial Stout, where they underwent an additional 18 months of maturation. The resulting whiskey exhibits a dry and oaky aroma, accompanied by subtle spices, as well as hints of cocoa beans, espresso, and dried apples.
