Bunker Rye pays homage to the place aptly named “The Bunker” where Whidbey Island Distillery began crafting its award-winning spirits.
Bunker Rye Whiskey is mashed, distilled, and aged on-site. With a focus on using local Northwest grains, our mash bill contains 51% Rye and 49% Washington Select Barley. Our unique continuous distillation columns, produce a soft and approachable rye whiskey. Each batch we do is specifically aged, combining traditional used whiskey barrels, with new and used, toasted white American oak slats. The end result starts sweet with notes of honey, caramel, and a hint of citrus. The finish lets you know it’s a Rye with notes of spices and pepper that linger on the palate.
It seemed only fitting to call Bunker Rye a “Whidskey”— a superb whiskey in its own right with a character that could only be achieved on an island and in a place with a character entirely its own.
